My Lord,

General Post Office,

Hong Kong. 1st October 1908.

I have the honour most respectfully to apply for

promotion to the Office of Postmaster General of this

Colony rendered vacant by the decease of the late Mr.L.A.M.

Johnston.

In support of my application I beg to enclose a

list of my services, and trust that in view of my long

service and experience in Postal work that Your Lordship

may be pleased to entertain my application favourably.

I may mention that on relinquishing the acting

appointment of Postmaster General,which I had held for

nearly three years, the then Governor caused to be sent to

me a letter onveying the approval and satisfaction of the Government at the manner in which I had conducted the

Department.
